Healing The Soul

The Oxford Dictionary describes the Soul  in this way.  The Soul or psyche (Ancient Greek: ψυχή psykhḗ, of ψύχειν psýkhein, “to breathe”) comprises the mental abilities of a living being: reason, character, feeling, consciousness, memory, perception, thinking, etc. Depending on the philosophical system, a soul can either be mortal or immortal.

Over the decades much research has been done on the Soul- my time spent in the USA with a leading Psychiatrist /Surgeon/Researcher some of the research undertaken was the weighing of the body pre-and post-death – factoring in the loss of gases and air the conclusion was (1985) that something other than the natural body’s functions was released.  Religion tells us that the soul departs the human body etherically within a few hours.  This is all scientific I know, what I am trying to explain is that there has been a belief about the human soul/psyche for millennia.  We all understand that if the brain loses its electrical currents and a patient is no longer able to breath on their own that somehow the soul has already departed. In other words, the unconscious person, were they conscious could not longer think, reason or speak.

The soul from my research and understanding is our connection to all, all this is, all that was and all that will be.  It’s a part of a person that can be accessed through prayer and meditation when one’s brain patterns change to state that induces gamma waves, this is a deep state similar to sleep, when the body is rested, relaxed and thoughts are held back allowing a deep connection to the Universe, many people have experienced an “out of body experience” when time stood still, when they felt as thought their were weightless in physical weight and mental weight.  Experiencing this state is quite profound it is however a state that everyone can reach through patience, tolerance, understanding coupled with prayer or meditation.

So many individuals are feeling stressed and anxious – for the first time in Australia’s history the city of Melbourne which in a way is experiencing Martial law to a lesser degree – other cities and states are on high alert which transmits across to individuals.  It is important in these times to understand that “you” and you alone are in control of your thoughts and emotion – thinking the worst knocks your body out of homeostasis; making it difficult to connect to your soul – if you would like to understand a state of mind that is stress free and connected to all try mediation (I actually dislike this word as for many their understanding of mediation is that you need to still the mind – which for many appears to be impossible), however, if you take away your interpretation of the word and undertake the practice of controlled breathing and awareness for a minimum of once daily for 3 weeks you may start to experience a connection with your soul.
